Monumental Change: Expansion At All Costs
Monumental Change is a documentary that tells the story of Monument Cemetery. A once prominent cemetery in the heart of North Philadelphia that was destroyed in the 1950’s and whose traces can still currently be found throughout the city. With this as the backdrop, the film explores North Philadelphia’s history of expansion and how the current wave of gentrification relates the removal of the dead in the 1950’s to the removal of the living today.
Shot and edited in the fall of 2017.
