Oddjobbers
After losing her office job and being forced to move back home, a lovable slacker leads a group of misfits to join her in working a consistent series of one-time gigs in lieu of getting a traditional full-time job.
Inspired by my time as a freelancer in a few different capacities. I’ve experienced first-hand the day-to-day life of someone who is constantly looking for their next gig instead of waking up for a 9-5. And some of the people I’ve met while freelancing have been larger than life and truly bizarre.
ODDJOBBERS was received an 8 on The Blacklist. With the evaluation saying:
“This pilot is a fun ride and flips a lot of workplace comedy tropes on their heads. Each of the characters is eclectic and lovable… There's a lot of TV series potential in this pilot. It has charming characters and a great plot vehicle that forces them to take on insane tasks and work together… It fits in well with the current workforce culture, in that many jobs are shifting away from the office anyhow, and it endears an audience to a group of lovable outsiders. It's also a pilot that could work for broadcast networks, basic cable channels, and streaming platforms.”
